Cherie S. Caputo

October 12, 1964 – October 13, 2022

On October 13, 2022, Cherie Suzanne Caputo, loving wife, mother of seven and Gammie to three, passed away at the age of 58.

Cherie was born in 1964 to Elizabeth and Robert Patterson. She spent much of her childhood moving around the country to the varying army bases her father was assigned to. She lived an eclectic and diverse life, but her defining achievement was her family.

Cherie was a beloved mother and wife. She was blessed with five children, Geoffrey, Jenny, Kayla, Lisa, and Catie, and accepted two more into her heart, Kara and Nina, after her marriage to John Caputo. Cherie built her world around her family. She traveled extensively with her husband, John, never passing up the opportunity to see and explore the world together. She pushed her children to be the best they could be because she saw their potential even when they didn’t see it themselves. She attended every game, every concert, every graduation. She organized weekly game nights and dinners at the kitchen table. Even after her children left the nest, she made sure to connect in any way that gave her time with her family. And when times were tough, she always welcomed her children back home.

Her greatest purpose was to love and support those around her. Even after her illness began to affect her, when care and attention were redirected towards her, she defiantly continued to push herself to tend to her family and those around her. If someone needed support, she would invite them into the family without hesitation, whether they were a new friend or a distant relative. She found companionship, comfort, and support in the Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group of NH. She was essential to the revival of this group, working diligently to create a resource for those dealing with a similar diagnosis. She found solace in going out of her way to meet with and visit with members and their families. Regardless of the hand she was dealt she still pushed to help organize events for her children, cook countless family meals, arrange weekly game nights and activities for Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. She fought everyday for every second she could have.

Cherie was undoubtedly a fighter, far surpassing her diagnosis by many years, which allowed her to see more graduations, more marriages, and more grandchildren than she ever thought possible. Her fighting spirit will be deeply missed.

Cherie was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth and her father Robert. She is survived by her husband, John; siblings Nancy and husband Mark, Karla, and Chris; seven children; son Geoffrey and husband Frank, daughters, Jenny and husband Dan, Kara and wife Beth, Kayla and husband Donny, Nina and fiancé Brian, Lisa and husband Josh, Catie and partner Alex, and her beloved grandchildren, Elliott, Bronson, and Ripp.

Family and friends are invited to Cherie’s memorial calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory in Lebanon on Tuesday, October 18th from 3 to 5 PM. There will be an opportunity to share a memory of Cherie at 5pm.

The family would like to celebrate her life by creating a keepsake box of memories. Please help us keep her spirit alive by sharing a memory, funny story or a note of your choosing.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at phassociation.org.
