Canaan, NH — Josephine Bessie Charbono, 102, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, November 3, 2022. She was born August 29, 1920, in West Canaan, NH, to Mattie (Blake) and Robert Stark, Sr.

Josephine attended West Canaan schools and Lebanon College. She worked as an LPN at Alice Peck Day Hospital in Lebanon, retiring in 1980. She also worked for the Lebanon Area Health Council for 5 years, from 1981 to 1986, and at Pierce Nursing Home in Enfield, NH for many years.

Josephine was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Plainfield, NH. She enjoyed flowers, birds, playing the piano, and her many cherished friends.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Joyce Ruel; sons, Steve (Bernadette) Charbono and David (Esther) Charbono; half-brother, Robert Stark, Jr.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members, and dear friends who will miss her.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Charbono; sons, William Gray of Frederick, MD and Donald Charbono of Enfield, NH; grandchildren, Denis Charbono and Jerome Charbono; siblings, Walter “Tinker” Stark, Marion “Minnie” Camber, and George “Buster” Stark; half-sisters, Lilian Wyman and Georgana Pellerin; and stepchildren, Earl “Buster” Charbono, Lois Kenny, Paul Charbono, Bernice Donovan, Robert “Bobby” Charbono, and Richard “Dick” Charbono.

Family and friends are invited to call at Ricker Funeral Home in Enfield, NH from 5-7:00pm on Sunday, November 13, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Enfield Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Enfield, NH.
